Attention Span

I can feel you,
Staring at me,
Watching me.
Your eyes bore holes in my head.
I turn to look and your eyes flicker away, a guilty smile crossing you lips.
Why do you seem so smug?

There you are again.
Still watching me,
With those infuriatingly seductive eyes.
They pull me, draw me close . . .
And then you look away, smirking again.
Why?

You snuck up on me this time.
I've been cornered like a helpless animal,
About to become a meal-time special.
You lick your lips like a hungry predator,
And then you lean in for the kill.

Electricity sparks between our lips;
I gasp and push you away, but you hold me tightly to you.
Confused, I give up, allowing my chest to be pressed up against yours.
You lean forward, and whisper in my ear,
"Why?"

"Why what?" I ask, barely above a whisper,
My heart pounding in my chest.

"Why have you captured my attention so soundly?"
